About Fika
We’re Fika (fee-kah) Coffee: a coffee roaster and shop based out of Lutsen, Minnesota. The concept of fika (a Swedish word meaning coffee break) permeates everything we do. A fika is a moment of quiet indulgence in an otherwise hectic day, sipping a hot cup of coffee after a hike on the trails, time gathering with good friends for great conversation, or a sweet treat enjoyed with your forever friend. For us it’s coffee, community and adventure.
Coffee
We're obsessed with coffee. Roasting it, brewing it, drinking it. We think coffee is a catalyst for change, both big and small. It’s is a way to love your neighbor, the best way to strike up a conversation and the only way to start a morning. To put it simply, we think coffee is more than just a beverage.
Community
Coffee brings people together. It's common ground, even if you drink yours black and the neighbor puts more cream in the cup than coffee. It's a reason to linger, a reason to talk, a reason to ask good questions. Coffee concentrates similarities and diffuses differences. Coffee makes friends from strangers, family from friends and neighborhoods from city streets. Coffee is community.
Adventure
Just like no day is complete without a cup of coffee, we believe no day is complete without a little bit of adventure. Maybe today's adventure is camping or maybe it's inviting a new neighbor over for dinner.

To Cultivate Beauty Through Our Work [Daily]
Beauty often catches us off guard, it can make us slow down and just stop for a moment to enjoy someone, thing or place. We often can’t plan for a beautiful experience, but we can slow down, practice patience and do the work to either create, observe or experience beauty. At Fika we have the opportunity to cultivate beauty in all aspects of our work here, whether it’s in a conversation with a customer or co-worker, preparing a tasty beverage, sending out a box of coffee. We are given a brief moment in which we have the opportunity to add a little beauty to someone else's life. Beauty is first welcoming and then leads to a sense of wonder!
To Create A New Paradigm For Community And Work On The North Shore
Fika’s desire is to encourage and challenge the way business affects life on the North Shore. For many years business has mostly been motivated by the desire of the consumer, which has and is leading to an unhealthy and unsustainable way of living and doing business. It’s through our values, standing in our convictions, pursuing partnership and making unconventional but intentional decisions that we hope to create a new paradigm.

Sitting on my front porch with Stephanie on a sunny and warm morning looking at the lake superior and enjoying a cup of black coffee! Outside of work you can either find me running the single track trails of our local woods, buying and reading books, and spending time with my family!

A cup of black coffee, blueberry pie a la mode, and a sleepy little diner in a town I’ve never been to before. When not dreaming in coffee, you can find me building tree houses with my friends in the woods.

A nice sunrise, the beach, and good company. I really enjoy reading books, gardening, sunshine, exploring new places, and spending time with the people I love.

Being surrounded by the beauty of nature brings me immense joy! Chasing vibrant sunsets in the afternoon fills my heart with happiness and wonder. There is nothing quite like gazing at the twinkling stars at night and seeking out the magical northern lights on The north Shore. It’s an adventure that lights up my soul! And let’s not forget about coffee. It’s my daily delight! Sipping on a warm cup of coffee is the perfect way to start my day, infusing it with cheer and energy. Life is truly wonderful!

Sitting by the lake or in the trees drinking and iced coffee with my parents or friends. When I am not working or doing school work I enjoy running, hanging out with friends, playing games, and watching my favorite show with my pets.

There’s nothing like a hot cup of coffee on a chilly morning next to a lake in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness with my family- especially with homemade chocolate chip cookies that I portaged in. Besides endless days paddling and camping, some other things I love are tending to my gardens, cooking yummy food, strolling through the forest, and hitting the slopes after a fresh snow!
